Notes from the Nurse

November 2, 2022

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Cold and flu season is upon us and local pediatricians as well as hospitals are also seeing a rise in RSV cases. Hospitals and emergency rooms are near capacity and are preparing for when flu cases begin to rise. Please read this letter  from the American Academy of Pediatrics and MA Department of Public Health. Getting a Flu shot and COVID vaccine is highly recommended this season. Here are some local places where you can get them:

Reminders regarding Covid symptoms:

  • If your child has Cold/Allergy/Flu symptoms (see COVID Guidelines), please test them for Covid before coming to school. If negative, repeat the Covid test 48 hours later. If positive, please keep your child home to isolate x 5 days and notify us and your child’s primary care provider.

  • Good handwashing and mask wearing when you or your child  have cold/flu symptoms are the best ways to decrease the spread of infection.

  • Close contacts of COVID + individuals, such as household members, are recommended to wear a mask for 10 days after their last exposure and test on Day 5 or sooner if symptoms appear.

Please contact us with any questions.

Sincerely,
