My name is Milena Arroyo-Ocasio. I am a senior at Medfield High School and am currently working on my senior project. My project is focused on learning about helping people through science! I am shadowing at the fire station, library, and American Red Cross. Here is a link to my blog if you are interested in learning more!
My main goal is to organize a blood drive with the American Red Cross. I have been a Blood Program Leader for five years and am so excited to be taking on the role as the organizer of this blood drive! I decided to do this senior project since there is a national blood shortage that is leaving people in hospital beds very vulnerable. I wanted to actually organize my own blood drive to help with this cause and make a difference.
So far, it has been really exciting working with the American Red Cross and walking through the documentation process. I have been able to see more of the behind-the-scenes of organizing this event and learning about everything that goes into planning and advertising for a blood drive.
