Dear 8th Grade Families,

I hope that this email finds everyone healthy, safe, and looking forward to the weekend! I am reaching out to all 8th grade families with updated information regarding the end of the school year. We are looking forward to the next couple of months as we have opportunities to help celebrate our 8th graders and their time at Blake. More information will be shared as plans are finalized and we get closer to the events, but we wanted to share the following dates with families...

Friday, May 16

8th Grade Dance from 7-9 p.m. in the Blake gymnasium

** This dance is not a semi-formal, and students are not required to wear any formal or semi-formal attire.

Late May/Early June (Dates TBD)

Annual bike field trips

Students will be led on a historical bike tour of Medfield by the 8th grade teachers. These trips are cluster-based and will be half-day field trips. Accommodations will be made to meet the needs of our students, and bikes will be provided for those who do not have one.

Thursday, 6/12

Transition Day, 8th Grade Picnic, and Yearbooks (during the school day)

8th Grade Closing Ceremony - 6:00 p.m.

(Rain date - Wednesday, 6/11 - see below)

We are hoping for dry, nice weather with the hopes of holding the ceremony outside on the baseball field. If the weather does not cooperate, we will hold the ceremony in the Blake gymnasium.

This evening will be our opportunity to thank and recognize our 8th graders for their years at Blake and wish them well as they head off to high school. Families are welcome and, if we are outside, we ask that all guests bring lawn chairs/blankets for seating in the outfield. Students typically like to dress up a bit but cool clothing makes sense-- collared shirts and nice shorts, dresses, or pants are common choices -- students and families should dress for a potentially warm evening. We are hoping for a 'cool weather' evening!

** Our hope is to hold this event on Thursday, 6/12, but if inclement weather is in the forecast we will move it to Wednesday, 6/11 so that we can be outside. If it is a rainy week, we will hold the event on Thursday, 6/12 inside the Blake gymnasium.

Friday, 6/13

Last day of school (half-day)

The safety and well-being of our students is and will remain to be our top priority as we coordinate these events for our students. Stay tuned for more information.

Take care.

Nat
