LATE BUS FOR MS/HS STUDENTS

We are pleased to announce that we will start a free late bus service for middle school and high school students beginning today. The goal is to eliminate the transportation barrier for students so they can participate in afterschool activities. Late bus service will run Monday through Thursday departing from outside the auditorium entrance at Medfield High School at 3:45 PM. We are unable to provide door-to-door service, but our bus company established a route with stops strategically placed throughout the town. The route can be found HERE.

HANDBOOK HIGHLIGHTS

Periodically we will include a Handbook Highlight to help parents and guardians navigate the ins and outs of your child’s educational journey. In each installment, we will shine a spotlight on a section of the MHS Student Handbook, equipping you with useful information.

FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE

Please look for an email from us for the link to your student's Emergency Health Form from last year and be sure to review and submit as soon as possible. If your student is new to Medfield Public Schools we will have the paper form you filled out at registration.

  • If your student has an epipen, please send us the Allergy Action Plan and whether they have their epipen in their backpack or we will hold it in the nurse's office.

  • If your student will need medication while at school, please fill out the Medication Authorization Form. They can not carry it in their backpack without this form being filled out and permission from you and their healthcare provider.

Always let us know if there is any medical information that changes such as a significant illness, injury, hospitalization etc... We will communicate with the teachers to be sure they get any accommodations needed.

Please visit the CDC's website for information on COVID. Since last year it has been treated like other respiratory viruses.

For all illnesses, your student should remain at home until 24 hours without a fever without fever reducing medications such as tylenol and advil. Here are our Illness Guidelines.

The above forms, and other useful information, can be found on Medfield.net, Menu/Documents/Health Forms or Health Information.

TURNING 18: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Before the Open House on September 26, from 6 - 6:30pm in the HS LMC, Attorney Deb Hedges will discuss the legal implications of turning 18 in Massachusetts. A key consideration is the set of legal documents needed to allow parents or guardians to continue assisting with financial, legal, and health decisions for their adult children after they come of age. She’ll provide blank forms for these documents - HIPAA, Power of Attorney, Health Care Proxy, and FERPA - so students will be informed and ready when the time comes to sign them after their 18th birthday. Her law firm, Borchers Trust Law, will also offer a free Document Signing Day in the spring.
