In addition, two of our seniors, Alexander Mazurenko and Trenton Louis (upper left photo above), have scored high enough on the test to have been named as Semifinalists in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship competition. These academically talented students will continue in the competition for over 7,100 National Merit scholarships.

Finally, CollegeBoard’s National Recognition Program is pleased to award MHS seniors Roman Schoenfeld and Ava Aldrich (pictured upper right above) with the Hispanic Recognition Award. Ava and Roman received this award because of their academic achievements in school and outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQT®.

HANDBOOK HIGHLIGHT #8/FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE

We appreciate when you keep your students home when they are sick. It cuts down on the spread of infection and illness. Please know that even though it is 'unexcused' unless we have a medical/dental note, we understand and support the absence. We know it can be hard to understand the attendance policy. Here is a more detailed explanation:

Absences: All students can have 6 unexcused absences per term. There are 4 terms in a year. We do not expect that you will take your student to the doctor every time they are out of school, that is ok. Those will be marked as unexcused, but we believe and understand the choice to keep them home as necessary for their wellbeing. When they get more than 6 unexcused absences in one class, there is a process for credit recovery in the classes they have missed.

If you provide us with information that excuses an absence, such as doctor's notes, dentist, college visits etc...they will be marked as excused and students are allowed 15 excused or unexcused absences per term (see handbook for more info).

Tardies: Students are allowed 3 unexcused tardies and then on the fourth and subsequent days, they will receive detention. After the 7th and 8th tardy, students will be assigned Saturday school. Tardies are excused for the same reasons absences are excused (see handbook).

For more information please click here for the Student Handbook.

FROM THE THEATRE SOCIETY

Theatre Society to perform Grease, November 17-19

Grease travels all the way back to 1958, capturing a sugary and idealized view of teenhood in its early stages. Back when love, slumber parties and prom were the main worries of many teenagers, it brings the audience back to simpler times. Guaranteed to spread a wave of nostalgia to an older audience, and a perception of hope and excitement to the younger audience.

Fresh off their summer love, Danny and Sandy never thought they would see each other again. But when their paths cross again at Rydell High, cliques and popularity complicate everything.

Will Danny and Sandy be able to rekindle their love? Or should it all be left in the summer?

The cast and crew of Medfield Theatre Society cordially invites you to join Danny and Sandy as they navigate their senior year at Rydell High School. Grease: School Version is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc., a Condors Theatricals Company. www.concordtheatricals.com. Book, Music, and Lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey

Show dates: November 17 and 18 @7:00 PM, and November 19 @2:00 PM
Location: MHS Auditorium, 88 South Street, Medfield, MA

Thank you Medfield for a fantastic Fall Fest! We loved enjoying the night out with you, sharing a beverage, getting on the dance floor, and despite the rumors of rain, taking it all in during a balmy New England Fall evening. To top it all off, together we raised more than $20,000 toward grants for our amazing Medfield schools!
