HANDBOOK HIGHLIGHT #7

Student Supports: ASC and Writing Center

Medfield High School’s Academic Success Center is open! This resource will be available to all students on a drop-in or referral basis during Flex periods on Days 3 & 8 in the Upper Cafe and will be taught by Linda Grolnic. Students use the MyFlex Learning app to schedule into the center. The purpose of the Academic Success Center will be to help students improve study skills and executive functioning skills across all content areas. This may include time management strategies, study skills, prioritizing assignments and organizing materials...just to name a few!

******************************

The Writing Center's purpose is twofold: it functions as a place for students to receive individualized help on their writing, and it serves as a resource for teachers interested in infusing writing into their curriculum. The Writing Center promotes writing as a multi-step process, one that emphasizes pre-writing, revising, and editing.

Policies are listed below:
  • The Writing Center is available for student appointments during all Flex periods, with the exception of Day 1/Flex A. Students should schedule themselves into the Writing Center using the MyFlex Learning app. Teachers can also schedule their students into the Writing Center. Be sure to communicate with your students when you would like them to receive this extra guidance. There is a limited number of appointments per Flex period.
  • The Writing Center maintains a small library of books about writing for teachers and students.
  • The Writing Center serves the MHS community and welcomes any faculty suggestions and ideas.

For more information, please visit the the MHS Student Handbook.

FROM THE THEATRE SOCIETY

Theatre Society to perform Grease, November 17-19
Grease travels all the way back to 1958, capturing a sugary and idealized view of teenhood in its early stages. Back when love, slumber parties and prom were the main worries of many teenagers, it brings the audience back to simpler times. Guaranteed to spread a wave of nostalgia to an older audience, and a perception of hope and excitement to the younger audience.

Fresh off their summer love, Danny and Sandy never thought they would see each other again. But when their paths cross again at Rydell High, cliques and popularity complicate everything.

Will Danny and Sandy be able to rekindle their love? Or should it all be left in the summer?

The cast and crew of Medfield Theatre Society cordially invites you to join Danny and Sandy as they navigate their senior year at Rydell High School. Grease: School Version is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc., a Condors Theatricals Company. www.concordtheatricals.com. Book, Music, and Lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey

Show dates: November 17 and 18 @7:00 PM, and November 19 @2:00 PM
Location: MHS Auditorium, 88 South Street, Medfield, MA
