Dear Medfield Families,
I hope you are well! I have some important information to share prior to our break.
Snow Day Info
Winter weather has arrived and there could be days that will not be safe for students and staff to travel. We consider a variety of factors before closing school, including the forecasted intensity and duration of the weather, the impact on travel conditions, and the ability of our facilities to remain safe and operational. Please note that the decision to cancel school cannot always be made the night before and sometimes needs to be made very early in the morning after consultation with the DPW and our facility staff.
We will once again utilize the Blackboard-Connect System to notify parents if school is closed, delayed, or dismissed early. The phone call will be sent to each landline and cell phone number that is currently on file with the District.
In addition to the phone call, the announcement will appear on:
·Twitter - Follow me @JeffreyJMarsden (I do this first)
·Television Stations: Boston 25, WBZ 4, WCVB 5, and WHDH 7
·Our district website: www.medfield.net
Please remember that there will be times when school is not canceled, delayed, or dismissed early and the weather is still inclement. Those days will feature slower travel for buses and cars, but will not necessarily require a change in the normal schedule. If you ever feel it is unsafe to travel, you always have the option to keep your child home.
Revised Handbooks
On December 8th, the Medfield School Committee voted to update the student handbook for each school. A change in the law around student suspension required the District to update the handbooks and notify parents/guardians of the change. The revised handbooks can be found at the following links:
Elementary Schools (Same handbook for all three schools)
Upcoming Surveys
Also, during the week of January 4th, you will receive an email from "Panorama Education". This email will have a link to our "Family-School Relationships" survey. It should only take 10-15 minutes to complete and will provide us with important information as we begin to plan for our strategic plan initiative in the spring. The survey will be open for at least two weeks and I will be sure to send you a reminder in early January.
I hope everyone enjoys some quality time with family and friends during the upcoming break. I wish you good health and happiness in 2023!
Sincerely,
Jeff Marsden
