January 11, 2022 --

Dear Medfield Families,

The Omicron surge has increased COVID-19 positive cases throughout our state and region. The positivity rate in Medfield is currently up to 12.68%. Our Medfield COVIID-19 Dashboard has been updated with our positive cases from last week. Going forward, I will send you an email each week that links to the updated dashboard instead of the usual "COVID-19 Update" email. The good news is Medfield's vaccination rate continues to be one of the highest in Norfolk County leaving most of our COVID-19 positive students and staff with mild cold symptoms. In order to keep protecting our students, we are planning to offer a "booster vaccination clinic" in the next few weeks, so please watch for an email.

Today, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) extended its mask mandate until February 28, 2022. This mandate was set to expire on January 15, 2022.  I do expect some additional changes coming from DESE regarding their guidance/recommendations around contact tracing, "Test and Stay" procedures and pooled testing. We continue to remain vigilant with our mitigation strategies and committed to student and staff safety. As always, thank you for your continued support of the Medfield Public Schools.

Best,

Jeff Marsden
