Dear Medfield Families,
Earlier today, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) extended its mask mandate to November 1, 2021, for all schools. In addition, DESE has created a process to remove the mask mandate for schools that have a vaccination rate for students and staff of at least 80%. The decision to pursue the "off-ramping" process is a local decision that cannot be implemented until October 15, 2021. The Medfield School Committee and I will continue to watch our COVID-19 data and consult with our local health officials/experts before considering a change in policy. A discussion will take place at the next school committee meeting on October 7, 2021.
