October 27, 2020 --
Dear Parents,
We have been informed that a student at the Memorial School has tested positive for COVID-19 and a student at Medfield High School has also tested positive for COVID-19. The Memorial student did not participate with in-person classes during the infectious period and there are no school close contacts or community close contacts for this student
The Medfield High School student was not in school during the infectious period, however, there is a significant list of community close contacts that involve Medfield High School students. Contact tracing is ongoing and all of the close contacts that we are currently aware of have been contacted. Given that additional close contacts may be identified tomorrow, there could be a change in the MHS schedule for Thursday.
What is a close contact?: Per Massachusetts DPH, if a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19, their close contacts will be defined as only those who have been within 6 feet of the individual for at least 15 minutes, while the person was infectious. All close contacts should be tested but must self-quarantine for 14 days after the last exposure to the person who tested positive, regardless of the test result.
Both Massachusetts and Medfield have seen an uptick in positive cases over the past week. Please remind your children to continue to adhere to the safety protocols during school and during after-school activities including mask-wearing, hand washing, physical distancing, and staying away from large gatherings. Please click here to see the Medfield COVID-19 Dashboard that will be updated every Friday morning.
Sincerely,
Jeff Marsden
