July 30, 2020 --

Dear Parents,

I hope you are enjoying your summer and staying cool! We have been working hard planning for the many complexities of reopening school for the 2020-2021 school year.  Earlier this week the Commissioner of Education, Jeff Riley came to an agreement with the three teachers' unions in Massachusetts to reduce the student year from 180 days to 170 days. These ten days are for additional training and preparation for the reopening of school. This will necessitate a change in our school calendar. For your planning purposes, I am anticipating school to begin sometime during the week of September 14th. I will notify you at the end of next week once the final decision is made.

Our final reopening plan is due to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education on August 10th. I will send the completed plan to all of you once it is approved by the Medfield School Committee. Please take a few minutes to fill out another brief survey that will assist us with our planning. The survey can be found here.

Thanks,

Jeff Marsden
