Dear Medfield Families,

I hope you all had a great February vacation week. As you know, building social-emotional learning (SEL) skills and student well-being is an important goal of the Medfield Public Schools. We have once again partnered with Panorama Education and will ask our students to reflect on their approaches to learning via an online survey. Over the next two weeks, students in Grades 4-12 will participate in a 15-minute SEL survey during their “Flex”, “Advisory”, or "Homeroom" period.  Students in Grades 9-12 will take the survey on Wednesday, 2/28 and our Grades 4-8 students during the week of March 3rd.

The survey will ask students to self-reflect on Social Emotional Learning topics such as:

  • Emotional Regulation
  • Social Awareness
  • Self-Management
  • Grit

We are asking all of our students to participate, as their responses will provide valuable insights into how we can improve our practices. This second administration of these surveys will give us useful comparative data. The results from last year's survey can be found here. The responses to these surveys will be completely confidential and students can skip a question they don't have the information to answer. In the coming weeks, we will ask parents and teachers/staff to also participate in Panorama surveys. If for some reason you do not want your child to participate in these surveys, please contact the building principal.

A special thank you to the “Onward Initiative” for funding these surveys again.

 Sincerely,

Jeff Marsden
