PRIVATE INSTRUMENTAL LESSON PROGRAM
The Medfield Music Program has long been recognized for excellence within the state, throughout the Northeast, and Nationally in many areas. Excellence is a product of hard work and a strong foundation of fundamentals. The music department is once again implementing an after school private lesson program for all Medfield students. Please read this letter carefully and return the lesson "Sign-up form" (below) to your music teacher by Friday, September 19th, 2008 if interested. Late enrollment is possible.
Instrumental lessons for students are offered after the regular school day hours at Blake Middle School and Medfield High School. All lessons are private. New this year, the collection of lesson fees will be coordinated through the Adult Education program (accessible on www.medfield.net). This is different than in past years. There are two payment periods during the course of the year. Payment 1 covers lessons from September to January (15) and payment 2 covers lessons from the last week on January to the first week in May (13). Lessons officially end the first in May so that the teachers and students can utilize the rest of the year to conduct make-up lessons as needed (max 2 per pay period).

Please do not use financial concerns as a single reason not to participate. Financial assistance may be available according to level of need. In addition, flexible payment plans are available upon request. Any financial assistance will be kept confidential. Our teaching staff is exceptional and each child will receive expert instruction on their chosen instrument. All play or teach professionally throughout the Boston area. Scheduling will be done to accommodate as many students as possible. However, please note that the after school staff is not available every day and their hours working here are set by them.
The lesson program here in Medfield has long been the foundation of our student’s success both individually as well as in a group format. In order to continue the development on an instrument lessons are essential. Band class is not the place to learn how to play an instrument at the secondary level. Great musicianship and ensemble training are the key components of band and orchestra. Middle and high school is a critical time for all students to take advantage of this program.
