Great Playwrights Project
Task Definition:
PART 1: PRESENTATION
After choosing your focus, you will be responsible for presenting this biographical and literary information in an appealing and entertaining way to the class. For this presentation, you have a few options.
A) A 5-10 minute oral presentation to the class on your playwright and his/her work.
B) A creative visual representation about your playwright and his/her work AND a 3-5 page paper explaining your project.
PART II: PLAY ANALYSIS PAPER
Each of you will be required to turn in a 2-3 page literary analysis of the play (by your playwright) you choose to read for your project.
Guidelines:
* Presentations AND creative projects must include, but are not limited to:
1. Brief background on the playwright's life
2. Information on his/her career, famous works, etc.
3. Discussion/overview of the representative play you chose
* Play Analysis Paper Guidelines: Choose a theme or character in the play and present evidence supporting your claims about the theme or character. OR, you could analyze the playwright's style, plot development, or methods of building tension in the play. The paper should be well-organized and proofread for mechanical errors.
* Ideas for enhancing your presentation:
- Use visual aids
- Use models of his/her work (bring in books, show slides, show a video clip, etc.)
* Ideas for creative presentations:
- Posters
