Where/When/How often Club Meets:
Weekly meetings are held in Room 120 at the high school on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-8:00pm

How to join the club:
Application, Essay, Interview, Three References, High School Administration Approval

Applications are available each Spring for the following school year.


Peer Leadership’s Mission Statement:

Medfield High School Peer Leaders are committed to providing leadership and service to fellow students and the community for the betterment of the town. We are a resource for information and support concerning social and emotional subjects. Our commitment is accomplished through various undertakings including education, mentoring, and community service.



Example of Peer Leadership Activities:
Peer Leaders undergo at least twenty hours of initial training in various content areas including: Listening and communication skills, understanding eating disorders, grief and loss, suicide prevention, understanding depression, how to help a friend, substance abuse prevention, how to access support and treatment for substance abuse related issues, and teen dating violence. Training takes place in the late winter through early spring and continues through out the Peer Leaders tenure.

 

Peer Leaders have been involved with the following activities: The planning and implementation of the safe driving assembly, welcoming activities for new students, tobacco awareness programming, big brother/big sister mentoring programs, Everybody Counts! program to educate grades K-3 about disability literacy/awareness, classroom presentation to 5th grade students about healthy behaviors, and peer counseling.
