When will the appeal process be used?

Students wishing to appeal their dismissal from the National Honor Society may appeal this dismissal using the process described here.

 

What is the timeframe for beginning my appeal process once I am in receipt of a dismissal letter?

You must submit your request for appeal in writing to the Medfield High School National Honor Society Advisor within 24 hours of its receipt.

 

How will I know the details of my appeal?

You will receive a letter that gives you the details of your appeal.  These details will include the date, time, and location.

 

Who can attend my dismissal appeal?

Students wishing to appeal their dismissal from the National Honor Society are welcome to attend their appeal review.  In addition, the student’s parent/guardian is welcome to attend.

 

How do I let you know that I/my parent(s)/guardian(s) plan to attend my dismissal appeal?

Fill out the form that appears on the bottom of the letter describing the date, time, location of your dismissal appeal.  Your signature(s) must appear on this form and you must submit it by the date specified on the form.

 

What will happen during the dismissal appeal?

If you choose to attend the appeal, you will be given an opportunity to present information in support of your appeal.  If you choose not to attend, your letter will act as your support.  After you have presented any information in support of your appeal, the Faculty Council will meet as a group to review the details of your appeal.

 

How long does it take for the Faculty Council to make its decision about my appeal?  How will I be notified?

You will be notified by mail of the Faculty Council’s decision concerning your dismissal appeal.  The Council’s decision and the letter informing you of the decision will occur within a reasonable amount of time (usually less than two weeks).

 

If my dismissal appeal is denied, what are my options?

Any appeals of the Faculty Council’s decision must be made in writing to the Medfield High School principal within ____________ days of receipt of Faculty Council’s decision.
