Friday, October 6th is a Teacher Professional Day. HS Students will have an EARLY DISMISSAL at 11:10 am. ALL Medfield Public Schools will be CLOSED on Monday, October 9th in observance of the Columbus Day holiday.
In lieu of progress reports, teachers have made their gradebooks open to students and families from Monday, October 2 through Wednesday, October 4. Additional information about accessing this information will be sent home via email on Monday, October 2.
GUIDANCE OFFICE UPDATES:
The deadline to register for the October 14th PSATs in the MHS guidance office is fast approaching. You must register by FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6th! All members of the Class of 2019 are encouraged to take the PSAT in preparation for future college entrance exams. Students can register through the guidance office by clicking here: PSAT REGISTRATION Students can drop off payment and pick up a prep booklet in the guidance office. The cost for the PSAT is $27. Checks should be made out to: MEDFIELD HIGH SCHOOL. If financial assistance is required please contact guidance at 508-359-2482 to request a fee waiver.

Our first “PTO Presents” had MHS Coordinator of Social & Emotional Learning, Dr. David Worthley, speak about the many pressures that our teens encounter, with suggestions on how parents can help their children navigate the stressful adolescent years. We thank the many parents who attended.

MEDFIELD MUSIC ASSOCIATION NOTES
Join us on Tuesday, Oct. 4th from 6:30 to 7:30 pm when the MMA holds its first and most important meeting of the year in the MHS Music Room. All music parents are invited to review and vote on the 2017/18 Music Department funding request, hear what plans are in store for the months ahead, and learn more about the MMA.
The MMA and MHS Theatre Society thank all the MHS performing arts students who helped earn the “Most Informative” booth award at Medfield Day this year! The two organizations teamed up to sponsor the booth which featured student performers from band, choir and orchestra, plus face painting and other entertainment provided by MHS Theatre Society students who did a fantastic job engaging the crowd.
Don’t miss the new “Celebrating Medfield Arts” banner officially installed over the weekend on the Tilden Village/Medfield High School fence facing the MHS Lowell Mason Auditorium! Together, the MMA, Friends of MHS Theatre Society, and MHS Art Department raised sponsorship funds from local businesses and organizations to support the respective arts efforts, while also celebrating the role they play in our Medfield community and schools. Special thanks to Park Street Books, Needham Bank, MEMO, and Roche Bros/Brothers Marketplace for being lead sponsors of the initiative; and to the Medfield Cultural Council and the Cultural Alliance of Medfield for their support.

The MHS Guidance Department is hosting its annual FINANCIAL AID NIGHT on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. The presentation will begin at 6:30 pm in the HS auditorium. All junior and senior parents interested in learning more about the college/financial aid process are welcome to attend. A financial aid expert from the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA) will present various topics including: financial aid application process, completing the FAFSA, information on scholarships and loans, and resources for families. We hope you can join us on the 11th!
The MHS Theatre Society will be presenting its fall production of THE SNOW QUEEN on October 27 at 7:00pm and October 28 at 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm! We want to remind everyone of our ongoing book drive partnership with Park Street Books. Bring in your nearly-new children's books to Park Street and mention the MCPE fundraiser. Depending on their condition and popularity, a donation will be made to the MCPE so we can continue funding innovation in our schools. Books that don't meet condition requirements will be given to Children's Hospital - it's a win win!
ANGEL RUN NEWS
Registration is open at medfieldfoundation.org. Start preparing now by joining our 10 week training program. Pick three non-consecutive days a week and do the 30 minute progressive workout. This week it's 6 cycles of 2 minutes running followed by 3 minutes walking.
Sing your way to the starting line! Student vocalists in grades 6-12 are invited to enter our National Anthem singing contest. Enter by November 1st. See full contest details on the Medfield Foundation website.
