Weekly News Update - Oct. 9, 2018

The Medfield High School Theatre Society will be performing William Shakespeare’s comedy, “A MIDSUMMER’S NIGHT DREAM”, on November 17th at 7:00 pm and November 18th at 2:00 pm at MHS’s Lowell Mason Auditorium. Tickets are $12, and are available at http://www.ticketstage.com/T/MEDFIELDHS. While remaining tickets will be sold at the door, many previous MHS productions have sold out. It is strongly recommended to buy online in advance of the show.

FROM THE GUIDANCE OFFICE

The Guidance Department is hosting the annual FINANCIAL AID NIGHT on Thursday, October 11, 2018. The presentation will begin at 6:30 pm in the MHS auditorium.  All junior and senior parents interested in learning more about the college/financial aid process are welcome to attend.  A financial aid expert from the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA) will present topics including: financial aid application process, completing the FAFSA, information on scholarships and loans, and resources for families. We hope you can join us on the 11th!  

The No Child Left Behind federal law requires that names, addresses and telephone listings of secondary school students shall be released to military recruiters upon request. Parents or guardians may opt out of this request by signing this form and returning it to the guidance office.  Military Opt out form

ATTENTION SENIORS!

The Guidance Department is offering college application help sessions every Wednesday after school in the guidance office from September 26th - October 31st. Seniors can bring their Chromebook and work on any part of their college application with assistance from one of the guidance counselors. A link to sign up will be emailed to seniors this week.

JUNIORS & SENIORS - MEET THE REPS!

The following college representatives will be visiting MHS during 2nd and 3rd lunch this week in the guidance office. Please log in to your Naviance account to schedule a visit.

Tuesday:  Endicott College, Providence College, Salve Regina University, Springfield College

Wednesday: Elon University, Loyola University Maryland

Thursday:  University of Alabama, Assumption College, Landmark College, Roger Williams University

Friday: Drexel University

OCTOBER 13th PSAT INFORMATION:  Students taking the PSAT on Saturday, October 13th should report to Medfield High School at 7:45AM.  Rosters and room locations will be posted in the main lobby. Students need to bring number 2 pencils, a calculator and their school ID (the ID is not mandatory, but it’s a good habit to get into when taking standardized tests). Students are reminded to NOT bring cell phones into the testing rooms.

MHS GUIDANCE SPONSORS FRESHMEN PARENT COFFEE

Please join the guidance counselors for a coffee for all parents of students in the Class of 2022 on Thursday, October 25th at 7:45 am in room 125 at MHS. This is an opportunity to get to know the guidance staff and get an overview of what's to come over the next four years.
