The CLASS OF 2020 announces a fundraiser!  The Class of 2020 is sponsoring a catalog fundraiser through the organization: Equal Exchange. Through Equal Exchange, the members of the class will sell 100% fair trade items and collect 40% of the profit on all sales. This fundraiser will help to support class events, purchase caps and gowns, and meet many other class-related costs. During a recent advisory, the Class of 2020 students received the catalogs.  They will be selling until Nov. 7th. Below are several informational links. MEDFIELD MUSIC ASSOCIATION NOTES - Buy a wreath; help a music student!  The annual Medfield Music Association Wreath Sale has kicked off. Purchases will help offset costs associated with music trips and fund our overall scholarship account for any student in need of financial assistance. Wreaths are $20 each, and can be purchased from music students or directly from the MMA by using the form available HERE. The deadline to order is Thursday, November 15. Wreaths will be delivered the Saturday after Thanksgiving (Nov. 24).

MHS PTO UPDATE - PTO Presents - Please join us for a conversation series addressing topics of interest and concern to high school parents. We will have 4 or 5 sessions open to you and your questions. Feel free to submit questions or topic suggestions through this RSVP form.

The Medfield High School Theatre Society will be performing William Shakespeare’s comedy, “A MIDSUMMER’S NIGHT DREAM”, on November 17th at 7:00 pm and November 18th at 2:00 pm at the MHS Lowell Mason Auditorium. Tickets are $12, and are available at http://www.ticketstage.com/T/MEDFIELDHS.  While remaining tickets will be sold at the door, many previous MHS productions have sold out. It is strongly recommended to buy online in advance of the show.

Weekly News Update - Oct. 15, 2018

MHS PICTURE RETAKE DAY is Monday, October 22nd.  Students that missed the original picture day or wish to have their photo retaken should sign up for a retake by signing up in the main office.  All retakes will be conducted during reading periods on Monday. The company does require the original package returned in full. Package order forms are available in the main office for anyone that needs one.  Please note: any student that missed the original picture day must still have their photo taken for a current ID card and for inclusion in our database.

PRINCIPAL ROBERT PARGA ANNOUNCES NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARS

CASH FOR YOUR TRASH!

There is a box top collection box in the HS main office.  Although high schools are not able to receive the money from box top collections, the middle and elementary schools will be able to benefit.  Please send in box tops you have lying around and perhaps keep a ziplock bag in the kitchen to collect new ones. The Guidance Department is hosting the annual FINANCIAL AID NIGHT on Thursday, October 11, 2018. The presentation will begin at 6:30 pm in the MHS auditorium.  All junior and senior parents interested in learning more about the college/financial aid process are welcome to attend.  A financial aid expert from the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA) will present topics including: financial aid application process, completing the FAFSA, information on scholarships and loans, and resources for families. We hope you can join us on the 11th!  

The No Child Left Behind federal law requires that names, addresses and telephone listings of secondary school students shall be released to military recruiters upon request. Parents or guardians may opt out of this request by signing this form and returning it to the guidance office.  Military Opt out form

OCTOBER 13th PSAT INFORMATION:  Students taking the PSAT on Saturday, October 13th should report to Medfield High School at 7:45AM.  Rosters and room locations will be posted in the main lobby. Students need to bring number 2 pencils, a calculator and their school ID (the ID is not mandatory, but it’s a good habit to get into when taking standardized tests). Students are reminded to NOT bring cell phones into the testing rooms.

Weekly News Update - Oct. 1, 2018

Tuesday, October 2nd at 7:00 pm our Bengbu #6 Middle School visitors from China will perform in concert in the MHS auditorium. Click HERE for more information. All are welcome!

We have reached the halfway point of Term 1.  Teacher gradebooks will be visible from Wednesday, Oct. 3 - Friday, Oct. 5.  Additional information will be emailed home.

The next meeting of the MHS PTO will be held on Wednesday, October 3rd at 7:00 pm in the HS library.  All MHS parents are invited to attend!

Friday, October 5th is a Teacher Professional Day.  MHS students will be dismissed at 11:10am.

Monday, October 8th ALL Medfield Public Schools will be CLOSED in observance of the Columbus Day holiday.

MEDFIELD MUSIC ASSOCIATION NOTESThe MMA will hold its first official meeting of the year from 7:00-8:30 pm, Tuesday, Oct. 2, in the music room adjacent to the MHS auditorium. This meeting is particularly important as the MMA will be reviewing and voting on the 2018-19 Music Department funding request, including new proposed initiatives. The agenda also includes the election of an additional board member, a review of events and activities for the year, and information on ways to get involved. All music program supporters are invited to attend!

Weekly News Update - Sept. 24, 2018

The MHS OPEN HOUSE will be held this THURSDAY, September 27th for all grade 9 - 12 parents.  The schedule for the evening is outlined below.

At 6:00 PM:

Optional grade 9 parent information session in the auditorium.  Please join us for an overview of the high school and a brief question and answer session.  

Optional grade 11 and 12 parent information session in Room 125.  Did you know that without legal documentation, parents of adult children are unable to make medical, legal and financial decisions for them without the child’s consent?  Through a series of illustrated case studies, representatives from PEAK Community Seminars will explain your rights as parents.

At 6:45 PM:

Parents and guardians of all high school students are invited to shadow their student’s semester one schedule for ten minute sessions with the classroom teachers.  The first class will begin at 6:45pm and the last class will end at 8:25pm. Members of the National Honor Society will be available to help guide you through the building.

All students will receive a schedule and map in school on Tuesday, September 25.  Please check in with your child so that you can have the schedule prior to the start of Thursday’s event. In addition, a copy of the schedule and a map will be emailed home.

PLEASE NOTE:  Parking at MHS on OPEN HOUSE night can be very challenging.  Be sure to allow enough time to find a parking space and get into the building so you don’t miss your first class!  We look forward to seeing you on Thursday evening.

SENIOR PARENT COFFEE - The Guidance Department invites parents of seniors to attend the Senior Parent Coffee on Wednesday, September 26th at 7:45am in room 125. Please join us as we discuss the college application process and answer questions about future planning.

FOR JUNIORS/CLASS OF 2020!  Registration is now open for the October 13th PSATs.  We encourage all members of the Class of 2020 to take the PSAT in preparation for future college entrance exams.  Students can register through the guidance office by clicking here:  PSAT REGISTRATION. Students can drop off payment and pick up a prep booklet in the guidance office.  The cost for the PSAT is $30.00. Checks can be made out to: MEDFIELD HIGH SCHOOL.  The deadline to register is Thursday, October 4th. If financial assistance is required, please contact the guidance office at 508-359-2482 to request a fee waiver.

The next meeting of the MHS PTO will be held on Wednesday, October 3rd at 7:00pm in the HS library.  All MHS parents are invited to attend!

Friday, October 5th is a Teacher Professional Day.  MHS students will be dismissed at 11:10am.

Monday, October 8th ALL Medfield Public Schools will be CLOSED in observance of the Columbus Day holiday.
