We have reached the halfway point of Term 2.  Teacher grade books are NOW visible through Wednesday, December 12 via the Aspen portal. 

On Tuesday, December 11th at 7:00 pm in the auditorium, the MHS music department will present their first WINTER CONCERT of the year, featuring the very talented musicians of our band, choir and orchestra ensembles.  Come listen and get into the spirit of the season! The concert is free and open to all.

CRADLES TO CRAYONS CLUB HOLIDAY TOY & BOOK COLLECTION!  Cradles to Crayons is looking for gently-used or new books and toys for children ages newborn to twelve years old. (NOTE: Cradles to Crayons DOES NOT accept stuffed animals for hygienic reasons.)  There will be a labelled collection box near the MHS main office for your donations. The collection will be ending in the next week. Thanks for your support! Let’s make the holidays bright for those who need it the most!

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY wraps up your holidays!  This Saturday, December 15th, members of the MHS National Honor Society will be having their annual holiday gift wrap service event. Grab your gifts and swing by the HS cafeteria from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.  NHS members will be happy to wrap your gifts for FREE...that’s right...for FREE! Make your holidays a little less stressful by having NHS give you this special gift.

MEDFIELD MUSIC ASSOCIATION NOTESThe MMA expresses its appreciation to everyone who supported last week’s 45th Spaghetti with Santa and a Few Winter Friends, as well as the annual Wreath Sale. Looking ahead, the Zullo Gallery is hosting an Alumni Jazz Jam on Saturday, January 5, and the next MMA meeting will be Tuesday, January 8.

The Medfield High School SITE COUNCIL will meet on Monday, December 3rd at 3:15 pm in the main office conference room.

Wednesday, December 5th is a Teacher Professional Day.  All MHS students will be dismissed at 11:10 am.

Athletic Director, ERIC SCOTT, is proud to announce the Tri-Valley League All-Stars, Records and Awards for Fall 2018.  Click HERE to view. The MHS Music Department will present a CHAMBER ORCHESTRA concert on Wednesday, December 5th beginning at 7:30 pm in the high school auditorium. This concert is free and open to all.

Theatre Society BIG FISH auditions are coming up!

Those students auditioning for an on-stage role will sign up for:

1) A 20-min audition slot on EITHER Dec. 12th or Dec. 13th.

2) A 20-min dance audition slot on Dec. 11th.*

MHS Boys Winter Track ITALIAN GROCERIA FUNDRAISER - TUESDAY, Dec. 4th, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm, Boys Winter Track will be hosting a fundraiser at Italian Groceria.  Please take a break from cooking and support the team! Consider gift cards for holiday gifts! A portion of all proceeds will be donated to support the program. Thank you!

The Cultural Alliance of Medfield (CAM) announces its fourth annual Holiday Stroll on Dec. 7, 2018 from 4:00 – 9:00 pm. This is a festive family event that takes place at seventeen venues along Main Street (Route 109), North Meadows Road (Route 27), North Street and the Dwight Derby House on Frairy Street. Included are 40 juried artisans at three main locations, an outdoor ice sculpture demonstration, food vendors, carolers, photos with Santa and M.E.M.O.’s outdoor tree lighting ceremony. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED for the 2018 Holiday Stroll!  The Cultural Alliance of Medfield is seeking volunteers for the 4th annual Holiday Stroll.  On Friday, December 7, between 3:30 and 9:30 pm, we’ll need volunteer ‘greeters’ in 2 hour shifts.

Greeting duties include smiling, welcoming visitors, tallying head counts, helping some artists set up/break down booths, and providing general event information to visitors. It’s fun, social, and easy, and you work in pairs, so sign up with a spouse or friend!

MHS THEATRE SOCIETY UPDATE - On Wednesday, November 28th, all students who would be interested (as either cast or crew) in participating in the spring musical, BIG FISH, should attend a meeting from 2:15 - 3:00 pm in the auditorium.  Immediately following (from 3:00 - 3:20 pm) will be brief meeting for all SENIORS interested in writing/directing for the annual Medfield After Dark performance.

Grant Funded-  We just funded a Guest Speaker Series for the AP Spanish Class from Mrs. Toubman.  It will include virtual speakers from Mexico and Argentina.  There will also be a guest musician visiting from the Buena Vista Social Club.

Volunteer Opportunities - We are in search of a team of 3-4 parent volunteers to lead the Snack Shack Team.  You can start this year by shadowing the current team and learn the ropes. The MHS community is also invited to support the effort -- and the K-12 music program -- three ways:

2)  Donate Basket Raffle items, such as inexpensive NEW toys, books, games, stuffed animals, dolls, sports gear, craft supplies, gift cards, etc. Items must be dropped off by Nov. 30th to the MHS Music Room (look for box) or 423 Main St. (Melissa Holm house; leave on side porch). Weekly News Update - Nov. 19, 2018

MHS students will have an early dismissal on Wednesday, November 21st at 11:10 am.  All Medfield Public Schools will be CLOSED Thursday and Friday, November 22 and 23, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.  Classes resume on Monday, November 26.

A round of applause for the very talented MHS Theatre Society cast and crew for two outstandingly entertaining performances of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer’s Night Dream” this past weekend. Special kudos to Andrea McCoy, the Director, for her passion and hard work in bringing this excellent production to our community!

MHS music students participated in the Eastern District Senior Festival auditions this past weekend and we are proud to announce that TWELVE of them were accepted. Ten choir members were selected including: Chris Achuck, Dylan Brunelli, Marcos D'Angelo, Harry Dorer, Michael Koellner, Matthew McGrory, Kathleen Mulready, Nicole Mulready, Kathy Predella, and Brice Sinnett.  This is the highest number of choral students ever accepted from Medfield for district choir!  In addition, Matthew McGrory has also been accepted into the prestigious All-Eastern Music Festival and will compete for a spot in a larger ensemble comprising the best music students from all six New England states, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey.  Jack Shurtleff (Jazz Band) and Evan Volkin (Concert Band) have been accepted into the Eastern District Senior Festival as well.  Congratulations to these exceptionally talented MHS musicians!

SUPPORT THE MEDFIELD FOOD CUPBOARD! This year’s Thanksgiving Day “Turkey Bowl” football game is at Dover/Sherborn High School, and the Medfield Food Cupboard is teaming up with the Warriors and the Raiders for an important “Preparing for Winter" food drive.

Please support the teams and the Food Cupboard by bringing a financial or non-perishable food donation to the game. Tuna, canned fruit, and jelly/jam are most needed items. (Please drop off your donations before half time.) The game starts at 10:00 am. Thank you for your generosity, and “Go Warriors!”
