Summer 2010 News

Read all about it!  Dale Street's 2010 all-school summer reading book is The Lemonade War by Jacqueline Davies.   All Dale Street School students (rising fourth and fifth graders) will be reading this book over the summer. We encourage families to share this book as a read-aloud.   A variety of fun activities and discussions are planned upon our return to school in September.

Enjoy the summer and keep on reading!

LMC Curriculum

Students visit the LMC every week for circulation lessons and activities. These lessons focus on literature and library skills, and are curriculum-based.   We encourage every student to select a book during these visits. Books are checked out for two-week intervals. Students may have no more than 3 or 4 books checked out at a time, and should return books as soon as they are finished reading them.  There are no fines for late books, but we do ask that students renew books if they are needed for a longer period of time. We love to give reading suggestions - just ask Mrs. Scharlacken, Mrs. Thornton, or Mrs. Fromen!

Students also visit the LMC computer lab for technology lessons and activities twice a month. These lessons are based on Massachusetts Technology standards, and include the use of word processing, internet, drawing and database applications. This year students are participating in lessons from the CyberSmart!™ student curriculum.  Ask your student to share their worksheets with you!
