Big 6™ Information

The Big6™ Guide to Information Problem-Solving.

Dale Street School students use the Big 6™ Guide to Information Problem-Solving. These six steps teach our students to locate, evaluate, gather, and communicate information effectively.

STEP #1. Task Definition.
What needs to be done?
STEP #2. Information Seeking Strategies.
What resources can I use?
STEP #3. Location and Access.
Where can I find these resources?
For online resources, start by clicking on the Databases menu button.   You may view pre-screened websites by clicking on the Student Folders menu button.
STEP #4. Use of Information.
What can I use from these resources?
Write the ideas in your own words on a graphic organizer or note-taking sheet.  Keep track of the sources you use on a bibliography form.  Click on the Student Toolbox to print these forms for your use.
STEP #5. Synthesis.
What can I make to finish the job?
STEP #6. Evaluation.
How will I know I did my job well?
