iPad 101

Thursday, 06 September 2012 16:34

Charging
iPads need to be charged at home each night, so that students have full functionality at school each day. Parents may want to consider charging the iPad in their room overnight so students would not have access to it during the late evening hours.

Cleaning
The iPad cases have a protective cover on the screen, so they can be cleaned with a cleaning solution/spray such as Windex, Fantastik, etc.

Apple ID’s and E-mail
All students will need to set up a unique Apple ID (non credit-card account) and a Gmail account in order to facilitate the sharing of work and information. Please see the separate handouts for directions on setting up the Apple ID and Gmail accounts.

Homework
Homework will be recorded in Reminders and iCal each day in school. Daily assignments will be recorded in Reminders, and long-term assignments will be recorded in iCal. The plan is to transition students away from their agendas to iCal. This calendar could also serve as a useful organization tool for your child with both in school and out of school activities.

Communication
Messages and updates will continue to be sent home via e-mail. In addition, we will be posting information on both the school and teacher websites.

Note-Taking
Evernote is one app that the Stars teachers will be using for note-taking with students in class. Our hope and intention is to use employ and pilot other apps throughout the year. We encourage you to have your student share the information and apps they are using and learning in school.
